Hovadur bars

HOVADUR®

Our standard alloys are based on DIN17666. Compared to the standard, our HOVADUR® alloys are produced within a much narrower range due to our vacuum technology. Therefore, we can offer our customers extraordinary properties and a maximum of reproducibility.

HSEQ general information

The SCHMELZMETALL Group is certified according to SN EN ISO 9001:2008.

SCHMELZMETALL is very much concerned about the health of their staff. We support our personnel actively concerning their health with the efficient and modern concept of HEALTH FOR ALL®. As a caring employer, we finance at 100 % this health concept as a supplement to the statutory health insurance. Our staff benefits immediately from better medical screening and treatment on private patient level. For this innovative investment for the benefit of our staff, we have been awarded the health seal.

We have always been concerned about protecting our staff. Therefore, we have conducted a health monitoring long time before ROHS and REACH. Today, our data – among others in connection with BEST - contribute to improve the security in handling beryllium containing alloys.

Since our establishment, we have been concerned about environment. We are committed to our share of responsibility for the protection of human health, nature and resources.

SCHMELZMETALL alloys are melted and cast in vacuo. This process preserves environment and resources.

SCHMELZMETALL Deutschland GmbH is member of Umweltpakt Bayern (initiative in Bavaria for the protection of the environment

Certificates

The SCHMELZMETALL Group is certified according to SN EN ISO 9001:2008.

SCHMELZMETALL disposes of a group-wide management system. We are certified for the development, manufacturing and distribution of semi-finished and finished products made of copper and nickel alloys. Our certification partner is Bureau Veritas Certification.

European Aerospace Supplier Evaluation (ASD – EASE) – EADS Astrium

SCHMELZMETALL is certified by Astrium Space Transportation according to EN 9100 (excluding design) as manufacturer and distributor of semi-finished products made of copper and nickel alloys.

Food Safety Certification

EN13130 and CEN/TS 14234 – Alloys and products in contact with food The alloys HOVADUR® produced by SCHMELZMETALL are also suitable for applications in the field of food, packaging and pharmaceutical industry.

Material test certificates

At SCHMELZMETALL, we ensure that every alloy meets stringent quality standards through rigorous testing and certification. Our Material Test Certificates provide verified data on key material properties, offering confidence in reliability and performance.

The certificate samples show you which values might be part of your certificate. You can order further values and types of certificates. We shall be glad to advise you.

DIN EN 10204 (2005) explicitly allows the electronic storage and transmission of test certificates, thus avoiding sending them by post mail any longer. This enables a faster forwarding of test certificates and also simplifies the electronic storage of these documents. SCHMELZMETALL provides the transmission of test certificates as PDF files to their customers either via e-mail or fax. If you want to benefit from this service, please contact the person in charge in our sales department or the sales partner in charge.

Material safety

In order to handle our HOVADUR® alloys correctly, we have issued material data sheets – for protection of your health!

Our material data sheets contain advice for handling potentially hazardous substances. In these sheets, you will find information about possible impacts on your health. They also give details which safety measures have to be observed when working with our HOVADUR® alloys.

In order to simplify the handling, all SCHMELZMETALL alloys have been summarized in groups of material with similar character. For each group you will find a document here containing all relevant information.

REACH-RoHS

SCHMELZMETALL has determined that all of our metal products, produced in and distributed throughout the EU, are articles. This determination is based on the requirements for substances in articles, classifying metals in massive or wrought form as articles. According to this guidance document, substances in articles do not need to be pre-registered or registered, unless a substance exceeds 1 metric tonne per year per manufacturer or importer and the substance is intentionally released from the article. Normal processing of our products such as machining, grinding, welding, etc., as well as normal wear and tear, are not considered as intentional releases.

Even though our customers buy articles all substances in our products which do exceed 1 metric tonne per year are pre-registered through our unit SCHMELZMETALL Deutschland GmbH. SCHMELZMETALL will ensure that the use(s) of our products are registered and that Data Sheets will be developed and provided in accordance with REACH and the Global Harmonized System (GHS) requirements.

SCHMELZMETALL joined the Beryllium–Consortium and is participating in various SIEF’s.

RoHS

(Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) summerises the European Directive 2012/65/EU concerning the prohibition of certain substances in the production and processing of electrical and electronical devices and components as well as its implementation into national law.

The alloys produced by SCHMELZMETALL do not come into the scope of the criteria of this. All alloys produced by von SCHMELZMETALL may be recycled without special measures. A labelling requirement according to the European Waste Regulation is not necessary.

REACH

(Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) stands for the European Chemical Regulation 1907/2006 which became effective on 1 June 2007. Since 2008, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is reponsible for organisation and control of REACH.

SCHMELZMETALL Hungária KFT. Is the main production site for our HOVADUR® B alloys. For test casts, we have a small 10 kg vacuum furnace at our disposal. Furthermore, we have our own forge and the possibility to carry out heat treatments ourselves.
